Family Tree

This view shows your family and relatives in a family tree chart. LAMU supports the Descendants Family Tree Chart format. The Proband (person serving as the starting point) is at the top of the tree. In LAMU Family Tree Chart, each node represents either a single person or a spousal relationship.

Start a Family Tree Chart:

The first time when you come to this view, there will be a button "Add First Person to Start". Click this button to add the first person to the chart. Alternatively, you can also right click on the chart area and then click "Add a person to start" from the context menu.

You can start from yourself or any person in your family tree and then build up the tree from there. After you add the first person, you can then add others using relations. There are three types of relations supported: Parent, Spouse, and Child.

Add a Parent:

Right click on a person and select "Add Parent" from the context menu. The Select-a-Person window will be displayed. Select a parent and confirm. The parent node will be placed above the person.

Add a Spouse:

Right click on a person and select "Add Spouse" from the context menu. The Select-a-Person window will be displayed. Select the spouse and confirm. The spouse will be placed next to the current person.

Add a Child:

Right click on a person and select "Add Child" from the context menu. The Select-a-Person window will be displayed. Select a child and confirm. The child node will be placed below the current person.

Remove a Person:

Right click on a person and select "Remove Person" from the context menu. The person will be removed from the Family Tree. Note if a node has only one person and has child notes, then the person cannot be removed until all child nodes have been removed.

Switch Position of a Spouse:

Right click on the spouse and then select "Move Person Left" or "Move Person Right".

Move a Branch Left or Right:

Right click on the root node of the branch and then select "Move Branch Left" or "Move Branch Right".

View Photos of a Person:

Double click on a person will display all photos this person appears in.
